In the fictional universe of Star Trek, Starfleet is a humanitarian and peacekeeping armada of spacecraft, that provides defense, research, diplomacy, and exploration services to the United Federation of Planets (UFP). While the majority of its members are human, and it's headquartered on Earth, Starfleet is made up of hundreds of other species as well, including the majority of the shows' primary protagonists.
